Why PicHaven
Cloud storage means renting space on a stranger's server, forever. PicHaven brings your photos home instead: to hardware you already own.
Photos land in a normal folder on your own PC, as ordinary files you can open, move and keep forever. No account, no lock-in, no monthly fee.
Every file arrives byte-identical and is verified after transfer. No “storage saver” recompression, just the original, not a copy of a copy.
PicHaven copies in one direction only and never deletes anything on the phone. On the PC it only tidies up when you ask, after checking every copy, and you can undo it. A backup you cannot accidentally empty.
Setup
If you can scan a QR code, you can set up PicHaven. The whole thing takes about two minutes.
Put PicHaven on the computer your photos should live on and pick a target folder. Windows 10/11 today; we'll support Mac if enough people ask. The phone needs Android 10 or newer.
The setup wizard shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone's camera: it takes you to the phone app. Once that's installed, scan the code on the PC again and both devices are paired securely. If the app is already there, one scan does it.
Every new photo and video arrives on its own whenever phone and PC are on your home network (Wi-Fi or wired), sorted into year and month folders.
Camera, WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, screenshots: you choose which folders are backed up.
Under the hood

Everything that is still on your phone, yes. But if Google Photos has “freed up space”, the originals were removed from the phone and only the copy in Google's cloud remains. PicHaven backs up what your phone holds, so those photos won't come along. You'd have to download them from Google first.
